Bunbury Patio Permits, February 2026: What the City Approved

What was approved

Seven permits were patios and four were carports. Estimated values ranged from about $7,600 to $32,700, with half falling between about $8,000 and $19,900.

Where

Glen Iris led with 6 of the 11 permits. The rest were spread across Bunbury, College Grove, East Bunbury, Withers and Usher.

Why no owner-builders?

Bunbury has several local patio specialists and two store networks, so homeowners have choice. The busiest contractor handled about 36% of permits. With only one month and 11 permits this is a snapshot, but it contrasts with Karratha, where 44% of patio permits were owner-builder.

Method. We read the City of Bunbury published building approvals for February 2026 and kept residential patio-type permits (patios, carports, verandahs, pergolas, shade structures and alfresco jobs). New homes, pools, ancillary dwellings and commercial work were excluded. Values are the estimated values listed in the register. Medians are used because a few large jobs distort averages.
